Men's Golf Paces Field to Start NCAA Rancho Santa Fe Regional

Gabrelcik, Lee Lead Four Ospreys Among Top 13 Individuals

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. - North Florida men's golf shows out in its first day of national postseason play with four players among the top 13 individuals to be the team leaders through the opening round of the NCAA Rancho Santa Fe on Monday afternoon.

The Ospreys tallied together 19 combined birdies between its five players in the first round on the West Coast, which leads the regional through 18 holes. Seniors Nick Gabrelcik and Davis Lee were at the top of the scoreboard for UNF with scores of 2-under 68 tied for third overall.

ROUND REFLECTIONS

  • Gabrelcik returned with vengeance in his first taste of postseason play with six birdies on his way to a 2-under 68 score.
  • He had a stellar start from each side with three of the first four holes of the day being birdie, followed with three straight birdies after the turn.
  • The senior is one of two players on Monday with at least six birdies, while also recording top-five mark for par-three average score (1-under).
  • Davis Lee had a stretch of three straight birdies as well to match Gabrelcik with a score of 2-under 68.
  • The two upperclassmen are tied for the best par-five average score in the field (2-under).
  • Andrew Riley put up a pair of birdies on each side of the turn to finish his day at even-par and a spot in the top 10 overall.
  • The D-II individual national champion from last season holds the second-best average par-four score (1-under).
  • Jason Duff joined Lee and Riley as three of 13 players with four birdies in the opening round, as the redshirt junior is tied for 13th at 1-over 71.
  • Robbie Higgins carded 15 pars, the second-most in the field, to finish out the day for the Ospreys.
  • Lee, Duff and Higgins joins Riley with a top-five mark for par-four average score (even-par).
  • The Ospreys had the best par-four scoring average (even-par) and most birdies overall with 19 total.
  • They also notched 55 combined pars and were top three overall for par-three average score (1-under).
  • UNF is the only team in the regional to three players among the top 10 on the player's leaderboard.
