Gabrelcik Tabbed Semifinalist For Ben Hogan Award

Third Time in Career Named as Semifinalist For Prestigious National Honor

FORT WORTH, Texas - For the third time in his illustrious collegiate career, Nick Gabrelcik has been named as one of 10 semifinalists for the 2024 Ben Hogan Award presented by PNC Bank, as announced by the Hogan Trophy Award Foundation, the Friends of Golf (FOG) and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Wednesday afternoon.

The Trinity, Fla., native is the lone player from a non-Power Five school to be named to the semifinalist list, while also being one of three seniors and one of five semifinalists from last year. He has been named to their watch list each of the past three seasons as well.

In 10 events played this season, Gabrelcik has earned a scoring average of 69.00 with 22 total rounds under par. He has posted eight of those tournaments with an under-par score, while placing inside the top 10 seven times and in the top 25 all 10 times.

The three-time ASUN Golfer of the Year won the medalist crown at the Gator Invitational hosted by Florida earlier this spring for the ninth individual win of his collegiate career. He also made made his second career appearance on the PGA Tour at the Valspar Championship under a sponsor's exemption.

The Ben Hogan Award annually awards the top men's NCAA Division I, II or III, NAIA or NJCAA college golfer based on all collegiate, amateur and professional events over the previous 12 months. Four of the top eight players in the Official World Golf Ranking — No. 4 Jon Rahm (2015, 2016), No. 6 Viktor Hovland (2019), No. 7 Ludvig Åberg (2022, 2023) and No. 8 Patrick Cantlay (2012) — are past recipients of the honor, while No. 13 Collin Morikawa (2018, 2019) was a two-time finalist.

The three finalists selected from this list of 10 golfers will be named on Tuesday, May 7. The finalists will attend a black-tie dinner Monday, May 20, at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, where the winner will be crowned as the Charles Schwab Challenge week kicks off.

Gabrelcik will compete against the conference field from Apr. 21-23 in Dothan, Ala., for a chance to bring his team home its eighth ASUN Championship.
