Beach Volleyball Bested in Friday Twin Bill at Stanford

Ospreys Edged by Texas A&M-CC, Swept by No. 3 Stanford
STANFORD, Calif. -Â North Florida beach volleyball (9-5) dropped the first two matches of its West Coast road stint, just getting edged out by Texas A&M - Corpus Christi (11-3) 3-2 and being swept by No. 3 Stanford (11-2) on Friday.Â
This was the third ranked opponent the Ospreys have faced this season following Florida State and FIU. The pair of Cameron Humphries and Hayden Wooldridge dropped their first match of the season after getting off to a 9-0 start. Â

The Islanders got out to an early lead, taking the first match point in the second flight in two sets. Cameron Humphries and Hayden Wooldridge got the Ospreys on the board to tie things up and continue their undefeated season so far. UNF took a 2-1 advantage thanks to Presley Murray and Madison Espy who won their court in two sets. Madeline Camp and Katie Camp just fell short of the clinching point in a close match that went to three sets. The Islanders would secure the final match point in flight three to win the opening match 3-2.Â

The Ospreys faced tough opposition in hosts No. 3 Stanford and ultimately were swept by the Cardinal to close out day one on the West Coast. Stanford jumped out to an early 2-0 lead over the Ospreys with wins in flights two and four. Murray and Espy were unable to force a third set, while Humphries and Wooldridge were edged in two sets that pushed the limits. Feliciano Sanchez/Murphy were able to force a third set on their court, but were bested in the end to cap off the Ospreys day at Stanford.Â
