
T&F Indoor Preview: RADD Sports College Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - North Florida track and field will embark on a new season of indoor competition, as they kick off their first meet at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational on Friday, Jan. 19, at the Alachua County Sports Complex.
Looking back to last year, the Ospreys closed out the 2023 season with a plethora of broken records. Macauley Franks and Aidan O'Gorman both led the charge in taking home a number of accolades and accomplishments.

The Ospreys will head back to Gainesville, Fla., next week starting on Thursday, Feb. 2, to compete for two days at the Celebration Pointe Indoor Classic.
Looking back to last year, the Ospreys closed out the 2023 season with a plethora of broken records. Macauley Franks and Aidan O'Gorman both led the charge in taking home a number of accolades and accomplishments.
BROKEN INDOOR RECORDS
- Franks smashed a program record in his 800m debut with the Ospreys in 2023.
- O'Gorman clinched his first career ASUN Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week after overturning a 35-year-old program record in the 3k.
- Ryan Thomas and O'Gorman both broke school records in their respective events at the Florida University Invitational, marking a total of five indoor records broken last season.
- Kaley Petrosky ousted the facility record in the high jump to win the Celebration Pointe meet.
- The men's DMR team won the first-place title in the 2023 Camel City meet and overturned the program record as well.
- O'Gorman and Franks beat out the program records at the Raleigh Relays for their respective races in the mile and 5,000m.
2023 SEASON OPENER RECAP at JIMMY CARNES INVITATIONAL
Men's Field EventsÂ
- Macauley Franks led the Ospreys in the 1600m with a national leading time.
- Franks broke the North Florida mile record set by Jerry Reckart in 2003 and earned the first place spot in the race with a time of 4:02.52.
- Tariq Lajoie broke his 2021 indoor high jump personal-best mark by .03m and cleared the 2.00m mark to place fifth overall.
- Jacob Hippo made his first intercollegiate indoor track and field at the season-opening meet.
- Hippo placed just behind Lajoie earning sixth overall by clearing the 1.95m mark.
- Both jumpers bypassed the 1.70m mark with LaJoie beginning at 1.80m.
Women's Field Events
- Kaley Petrosky commenced the meet bright and early by competing in one of the first events of the meet.
- The former All-ASUN Third Team performer set a personal-best mark of 1.60m in the competition.
- She also placed sixth overall and bypassed the 1.50m mark.Â
LAST TIME OUT
ASUN Indoor Championships
- The Osprey men earned a pair of event champions and a total of six All-ASUN selections.
- The men notched a third-place overall team placement at the conference meet.
- O'Gorman was the champion for both the 3000m and 5000m, while Ryan Douihech (800m), Franks (Mile) and the DMR team all got second.
- Kaley Petrosky punched a third overall finish in the high jump.
- On top of being awarded the conference's Most Outstanding Indoor Track Athlete, O'Gorman was also selected to the ASUN All-Academic Team.
