TOURNAMENT NOTEBOOK
- The Ospreys will be playing in the Windon Memorial Classic for a third-consecutive season and the ninth time overall in program history.
- Their return to Northwestern in 2021 was lackluster finishing 11th as a team, but the top-five finish last season was much improved with Higgins taking home his first career medalist crown.
- The tournament will move from Evanston Golf Club to Sunset Ridge Country Club for this year's meet.
- Gabrelcik and Davis Lee joins Higgins as players with experience from last season's tourney at Northwestern, as Gabrelcik shared 33rd and Lee finished in the top 45.
- This will be the second of four fall tournaments with it also being the first one played over a two-day span.
- It will be the northernmost invite that the Ospreys will compete in this season.
- Will be playing on a par-71 course at Northwestern after opening the year at Tennessee on a par-70 course.
- The field includes several teams from the Big Ten, including Indiana, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Purdue and Wisconsin.
- ETSU, Wisconsin and South Florida will all be familiar opponents, as they also started their seasons at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate earlier this month.
- UNF will keep their season-opening lineup of a graduate, two seniors, a junior and a freshman.
- Two rounds of 36 holes total will be played on the first day, followed by one round of 18 holes on the final day of play.
- There will be an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start on Monday to start and tee times at 8 a.m., on Tuesday to finish.
FROM THE 19TH HOLE
- Gabrelcik improved through three rounds at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate with rounds of even-par 70, 2-under 68 and the program-best final round of 8-under 62. The ASUN Co-Golfer of the Week finished as the runner-up at Tennessee will be ready to fight for his eighth-career medalist crown.
- Higgins had a solid opener at 2-over 212, including a first-round score of 1-under 69. The two-time All-ASUN First Team selection returns to Northwestern with a chance to repeat as the individual champion of the Windon Memorial Classic.
- Lee looks to bounce back early this week after scoring 10-over 220 at Tennessee to start the fall season. The graduate has been one of the most consistent players during his time at UNF, as he and Higgins both played in every tournament last season.
- Andrew Riley will receive his second start after a good Osprey debut that put him inside the top 50 at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate. The former NCAA D-II national champion will be ready to make his mark with another chance to become one of the top players this year for UNF.
- Chase Carroll will also be making an appearance as a true freshman for his second career start. He highlighted the opening round at Tennessee at 2-under 68 and finished in the top 50 on the leaderboard during his collegiate debut.
