Four-Year Letterwinner at South Alabama
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - UNF men's tennis is excited to publicize the addition of Louis Delcour to the coaching staff as announced by head coach Matt Lucas. The French native was a four-year letterwinner and standout student-athlete at South Alabama in Mobile, Ala.
The Lille, France, native helped the Jaguars to the 2019 and 2021 Sun Belt Tournament Championship and the 2023 regular season crown. In 2019, Delcour and South Alabama knocked off Tulane en route to a win in the first round of regionals.
Delcour was a back-to-back All-Sun Belt all-conference honoree in 2022 and 2023, ascending to as high as No. 16 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) doubles rankings, appearing in the NCAA Doubles Championship in 2023.Â
A one-time French national champion in doubles, Delcour earned a ranking of -2/6 in France in doubles. This past spring he earned his degree in finance, making the dean's list six times, the ITA Scholar-Athlete list, Sun Belt Commissioner List and Sun Belt Academic Honor Roll.
Coach Lucas on Delcour
"We couldn't be happier adding someone as skilled, motivated and excited to begin his collegiate coaching journey here with the Ospreys! Competing against Louis for the past four seasons has allowed me to see how competitive and intelligent Louis is as a player. I know he will bring those qualities and so much more to our coaching staff. Louis is a three-time captain at South Alabama and is the undisputed leader of a program we have much respect for. Playing in the NCAA Tournament as a team and as an individual will show our student-athletes how to go about achieving these things."
"We had a fantastic pool of candidates, but Louis has a passion to be in this business and it was an easy choice in the end. I cannot wait for the fall to get things going with him. He is coming aboard at an exciting time for our program and we're ready to take the next steps forward into the top 40 of the national rankings."
