Vies for Chance at the 2024 Paris Olympics
SANTIAGO, Chile - North Florida men's tennis' Rodrigo Crepso will represent UNF and his home country as he competes for Costa Rica in the 2023 Pan American Games October 23-29 in Santiago, Chile.
This year's Pan American Games mark the first time the events are hosted in Chile, as over 6,000 athletes throughout the Americas converge on the nation's capital in the 19th rendition of the Pan American Games.Â
"I'm very fortunate to have the opportunity of experiencing an Olympic event," Crespo said. "It's so humbling to be around athletes of this caliber and to be able to learn from them. I'm extremely excited for what's to come and also for the aftermath of it too."
Crespo and his Costa Rican teammates will compete for a chance to represent their country in the 2024 Olympics held in Paris this upcoming summer.Â
"We couldn't be more proud of Rodrigo and his participation in the Pan Am Games," head coach Matt Lucas said. "His commitment to competition over the summer has rewarded him with this opportunity. It just shows that Ospreys are making their mark in the international tennis scene. We recruit and develop players with aspirations of professional tennis and Rodrigo exemplifies this. I couldn't be more proud!"
The Pan American Games can be watched via the Olympic Channel on Olympics.com or through the app. United States viewers can also use Fubo TV and PanAm Sports Channel.
