North Florida Women’s Basketball Coach Recognized For Career
WILMINGTON, Del. - North Florida women's basketball assistant coach Khadijah Rushdan was one of nine honored as inductees to the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame (DSMHOF) as announced by the organization at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington, Del.Â
Rushdan recently completed her fourth season on the sidelines coaching the UNF women's basketball team. The Delaware native rose to prominence at St. Elizabeth High School in Wilmington, Del. There she became the first Delaware high school athlete in any sport to be recognized as a first team all-state selection five times.Â
In 2004, 2006 and 2007 Rushdan was named Delaware high school Player of the Year, helping St. Elizabeth to a state title with a state-record 2,464 points. Before departing from the high school level, Rushdan was a McDonald's and Parade All-American honoree. She also earned the honor of playing for the USA National Team at the 2006 FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship.
From there she moved on to the Garden State where Rushdan became a standout addition to the Rutgers women's basketball team. Her numbers go down as some of the greatest tallied in New Brunswick, N.J., as she finished with the most games played in program history with 135. She is just one of two Scarlet Knights to notch a triple-double and ended her career with 1,288 points, good for 20th in program history. She was the Big East leader in assist to turnover ratio and also bounced back from a torn ACL to earn All-Big East First Team recognition.Â
Before entering the coaching ranks, Rushdan was the 15th overall pick by the Los Angeles Sparks in the 2012 Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) draft, while also playing for Maccabi Ramat Chen in Israel.Â
In Jacksonville, Rushdan has helped coach the Ospreys to five all-conference picks, one ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year, four ASUN All-Academic honorees, nine ASUN Player of the Week recipients, five weekly newcomer of the week honorees, one ASUN Freshman of the Week, one College Sports Information Directors of America All-District pick and 36 ASUN Honor Roll students.
