UNF Improves to 6-1 in Matches Decided, 4-3
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - Matt Carroll has been cool under pressure all year long and Friday that composure was evident again as he clinched the match in North Florida men's tennis' 4-3 road win at Jacksonville State (7-6, 2-2 ASUN) April 1.
North Florida is now 12-6 and 3-1 in ASUN play this year, while also improving to an impressive 6-1 mark in matches decided, 4-3.
Carroll has clinched both of UNF's 4-3 ASUN wins this year as North Florida nabbed its first road win in ASUN play on the year.
How it Happened
Jacksonville State won the doubles point in convincing fashion, but as needed after dropping the first point, UNF replied with a pair of quick singles wins. In his first singles match of the spring season, Dominik Barton won 6-2, 6-1, just before reigning ASUN Men's Tennis Player of the Week, Jonas Hartenstein, won 6-3, 6-1.
Jacksonville State took slots four and two in that order, earning a 3-2 team lead. Down one on the road, Rodrigo Crespo came through in a big way, evening things up with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 victory against Daisuke Inagawa at six singles.
The aforementioned Carroll shook off a first-set loss, turning around to win sessions two and three by a 6-4 and 6-1 tally.
