Ospreys Leave Sunshine State for First Time in Non-Conference Play

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida baseball gets back into non-conference play with another midweek game in the southeast region when the Ospreys take on The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. tomorrow night at 6 p.m. This is the first of two times North Florida goes to the Palmetto State in the span of two weeks.

North Florida will host The Citadel April 19 at 6:05 p.m. in the completion of a non-conference home-and-home.

Graduate transfer Brock Edge did the amazing, notching a hit in nine-consecutive at-bats last week to set a UNF record ... Edge went 4-for-4 in a road win at FAMU March 22 and followed that up by going 4-for-4 in the series opener at Kennesaw State ... in a unique set of circumstances, Edge reached nine-straight hits if you take into account his final at-bat during the continuation of the March 15 suspended game that was later played March 22 ... Edge reached on a single, setting him up for the record based on chronological order of at-bats ... Edge broke a tie with Alex Kachler who posted eight hits in eight at-bats last April.

Hit Parade
North Florida was held below 10 hits in a game Sunday at Kennesaw State for the first time in seven contests ... North Florida had reached at least 11 hits in every game dating back to the March 15 game against FAMU ... UNF's streak of seven-straight double-digit hit games marked its longest since March of 2018 ... the Ospreys are 24th in the country in hits and second in the league in that category.

The Citadel is 16-7 and 15-7 at home having played just one road game at Charleston Southern.
The Bulldogs have won every three-game series they have played this year, including three-game sets against Farleigh Dickinson, Villanova, Northern Kentucky, Siena, Saint Peter's and George Mason.
The Citadel walked-off on South Carolina on its last midweek game, a 4-3 win for the Bulldogs against their in-state foes.
Outfielder Ryan McCarthy was named Southern Conference Player of the Week Monday, March 28. He went 7-for-15 while totaling a double, triple, two home runs and five RBI.
The Bulldogs will be starting Devin Beckley. The righty is 3-1 with a 2.30 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 31.1 innings of work.
