First Indoor Track Meet for Ospreys in Two Years

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The North Florida track and field teams head to Columbia, S.C. to make their debut for the indoor season at the Carolina Challenge.

This will be the first time the Ospreys will be racing in an indoor meet since the 2020 season. They did not compete in any of last year's indoor track & field meets to focus on the spring 2021 cross country season.

Top Marks in 2021 ASUN Outdoor Championship

Kaley Petrosky placed third in the high jump with a mark of 1.62m (5'3.75").
Both Tariq Lajoie and Ryan Thomas recorded high jumps of 1.93m (6'4") to place within the top eight.

Top Times in 2021 ASUN Outdoor Championship

Nathan Jubran placed first and set the ASUN record in the 10000m with a time of 29:30.48.
Timothy Doyle claimed second placed in the 1500m and recorded a ASUN Championship meet record with his time of 3:44.81.
Aidan O'Gorman clocked a personal-best time of 29:56.09 in the 10000m to finish right behind Jubran in second place.
Jared Vazquez finished third in the 800m with a time of 1:50.72.
Gavin O'Brien raced in the 3000m steeplechase and placed third with a time of 9:40.35.
Jared Vazquez, Robert Pedroza, and Onix Ortiz Vazquez were a part of the 4x400m relay team that placed third, covering the track in 3:23.13.

NOTABLE OPPONENTS

There will be a total of 39 teams competing at the Carolina Challenge this weekend. Along with South Carolina, some notable opponents for this meet will be Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky and Miami (FL). Jacksonville will also be competing in Columbia as the only other ASUN team at this meet.

On the men's side, Georgia and Kentucky both finished in the top 15 nationally during last year's indoor season. For the women, Georgia, Auburn and Kentucky all were ranked inside the top 15 as well, while South Carolina and Miami (FL) finished in the top 25 for the 2021 indoor season.

UP NEXT

After the meet at South Carolina this weekend, the Ospreys will prepare for the 8th Annual Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational in Lynchburg, Va. from Feb. 11-12. Liberty will be the host site for the ASUN Indoor Championships later this season from Feb. 25-26.
