UNF Claims Series Win and Secures at Least the Two Seed in the ASUN South Division

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Not only did senior outfielder Blake Marabell steal a home run from Stetson, but he hit the game-winning two-run home run in the eighth inning as North Florida baseball (18-19, 11-6 ASUN) defeated Stetson, 5-3, Saturday, May 8.

The Ospreys are now two games ahead of Stetson (23-20, 9-8 ASUN), ensuring UNF at least the ASUN South Division second seed. FGCU and UNF entered the day tied in the win column for their ASUN record. The Eagles have two more ASUN games remaining, both coming against Jacksonville.

Not lost in the box score was Austin Bogart's second home run of the season against his former team, 7.1 innings of three-run ball from Tony Roca, Stephen Halstead's one-pitch win and Brandon Reitz's seventh save of the 2021 campaign.

Neither team turned in an error for the second consecutive game. Also matching Friday's ledger was the time of game. Both contests lasted two hours and 21 minutes.

Behind the Line Score

Bogart was all over a solo home run to left center in the third, putting UNF up 1-0.
In the fifth, Aidan Sweatt roped a double inside the third base bag before Bogart drove him in with a triple into the right field corner.
Blake Marabell repeated his magic from April 23 when he robbed a home run, doing the same in nearly the same spot on the field as he took a home run away from Eric Foggo in the top of the seventh.
UNF went up 3-0 in the seventh. Marabell walked, moved up two bases after a pair of groundouts and scored on a Tanner Clark fly ball lost in the sun, resulting in an RBI double.
Stetson tied things up with a three spot in the eighth. Danny Martin clubbed a solo home run, breaking the shutout. The Hatters used a hit batter, walk, RBI single and RBI groundout to tie things up.
Marabell did it with the bat in the eighth. Alex Kachler doubled to leadoff the frame before Marabell drove a two-run home run to left for the 5-3 lead.
Reitz sealed the deal in the ninth for his second save in as many days.

Marabell has robbed two home runs in less than a month after taking one away from Jacksonville's Duncan Hunter April 23.
