Deciding Court Goes to Three Sets
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A marathon day of weather delays concluded with a marathon three-set match at court four to decide the fate between #13 FAU and North Florida beach volleyball Friday, April 9. When the sand settled the Ospreys (17-6) were barely edged, 3-2, by the Owls (15-7) late into the evening at the Florida State Beach Courts.
UNF was also set to play Coastal Carolina earlier in the day, although lightning delays pushed the day's matches around, forcing an 8:15 p.m. start between UNF and FAU.Â
North Florida's match against Coastal Carolina was canceled.
Match 1: #13 FAU 3, UNF 2
The two teams traded wins until coming to a 2-2 tie.Â
Reigning ASUN Pair of the Week Antonia Harrison and Dana Roskic won their seventh match in a row and fourth at the top slot with a 21-10, 21-11 victory to give UNF an early lead.
FAU evened the ledger by winning at the third court, although Taryn Griffey and Callie Workman won 21-14, 21-18 against Kenley Adams and Ellie Austin.
The Owls didn't go away, winning court five to force a deciding outcome at the fourth slot. Chantel McMillan and Carolyn Cain battled at the fifth flight before coming up short 21-18, 26-24.
Carleigh Semeniuk and Lauren Galinis have had a fair share of three-set matches this season, and this one was arguably the longest. The duo fell in the first session but rebounded to take frame two, 21-18.Â
Frame three proved to be a slugfest as the set went well past the 15-point mark. FAU's Savannah Pesante and Maylin Bouffard scratched out the final set win, 23-21.

Other Notes
"We played well and had a chance to win at the fourth and fifth slot. I thought our sideout was outstanding at most courts and we were a few defensive points away from clinching. I'm proud of the way we're competing to set ourselves up with a few match points while fending off about six of theirs. I believe our play will transfer right to tomorrow against FIU." - Director of Volleyball Kristen Wright
