GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Behind a four-run fifth inning, No. 5 Florida shut out North Florida softball, 8-0, Thursday evening.

North Florida returns to Jacksonville to host Georgia Southern for a three-game series Friday and Saturday. Admission is by pass list only and a limited number of UNF students.

How it Happened
- The Gators put up two runs in the first on three hits and an error.
- Florida then scored again on a single and a double from Lindamen in the second for a 3-0 lead.Â
- In the third, Alyssa Dyhr sat the home team down in order.
- UNF had its best chance in the top of the fourth when Paige Pfent led off with a walk before a single put two on board. The Gators then got the next two batters to end any threat.
- UF scored another run in the bottom of the frame on a pair of hits before really opening the bats.
- Florida then used four hits and a UNF error to score four in the fifth and end the ball game with a run-rule.
Notes
- Taylor Engman and Logan Jackson were the two hits of the game. Engman also reached on a walk along with Pfent.
- Dyhr, Morgan Clausen and Halle Arends each recorded a strikeout.
