How it Happened
- North Florida (2-5) tied the game in the seventh inning on four hits and two errors. Down 4-0, Ashley Goebel singled before an error allowed Regan Hermeling to reach for two on. The Eagles (1-5) got one out before Taylor Engman loaded the bases on her hit to left field. Kayla McGory then stepped to the plate to record her first double of the year and score the runners for a 4-3 game. She made it to third thanks to a miscue in the outfield so she was in perfect position for Shannon Glover's double to tie the game.Â
- With Glover in scoring position, the Eagles made a double play to force extra innings.
- Arends came in relief in the eighth and fanned three straight batters before UNF went down in order as well.Â
- In the top of the ninth, Georgia Southern had a two-out single before a double put runners on second and third. Arends then got the final out to keep it tied.
- Hermeling led off the inning with a single and Engman recorded her third hit of the day for two on. McGory then stepped to the plate to send a one-out double to left field and secure the win.
- The Eagles opened the scoring in the top of the first inning as Faith Shirley picked up an RBI double for the 1-0 lead.
- The score remained 1-0 into the sixth inning, when Georgia Southern tacked on three on two hits before adding another run in the top of the seventh.
Â
