How it Happened
- North Florida got on the board first when Britney Purser had a lead off hit before a sac bunt moved her over. Kayla McGory then had a two-out RBI for the 1-0 lead.Â
- Winthrop scored a three-spot in the top of the fifth as two UNF errors put runners aboard before a sac fly and a single up the middle made it a 3-1 game.Â
- The Eagles tacked on another run in the top of the sixth on a sac fly, but UNF ended any other threat with a double play to close out the frame.
- The Ospreys attempted a comeback with McGory reaching on a walk before Shannon Glover doubled down the left line to put two on. Paige Pfent then singled through the left side to bring McGory home for a 4-2 game. UNF tried to put another one on the board, but Winthrop got the tag at home to end the threat.
- In the seventh, Logan Jackson led off the inning with a home run to right field. Then with two outs, Brittany Sundermeier pinch hit with a single and Taylor Engman followed with a double to put the game-winning run on second.Â
- McGory earned a two-out walk to load the bases, but a final line out secured the win for the visitors.
Notes
- Arends was tagged with the loss in 4.2 innings of work with four hits, three runs - all unearned, three walks and three strikeouts.
- Jackson's home run was the first of her career and second of the season.Â
- McGory went 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI.
- Morgan Clausen came in relief for 2.0 innings and faced four batters and did not surrender a hit.
