Women's Tennis Extends Home Win Streak to Fifteen

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's tennis extended its home win streak to 15 after downing Florida Atlantic for the first time since 2009, 4-2 Monday.

Lucia Montano and Ana Paula Melilo defeated Natalia Boltinskaya and Louie McLelland, 6-1, to get the first win in doubles. Constanza Gorches and Kendall Nash clinched the doubles point, edging Radka Buzkova and May Kimhi, 6-2.

Montano claimed court one, winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 against Martina Kudelova. The Owls quickly responded, sweeping courts six and five to tie the score, 2-2.

Melilo settled a tiebreak against Buzkova 6-2, 7-6 (7-5), to give the Ospreys a 3-2 lead. Valentina Mariotto took McLelland to three sets before clinching the match point for North Florida 7-5, 1-6, 6-3.

North Florida women's tennis stays home Monday, March 9 to host Navy in the team's first-ever meeting.
