
The Facts: Mercer Gridiron Invite

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The UNF women's tennis team heads to Macon, Ga., this weekend for the Mercer Invite.
1. Last Time Out
Columbia, S.C. - North Florida started the first day with doubles wins from Ana Paula Melilo and Lucia Montano as well as Constanza Gorches and Valentina Mariotto. On the second day, Melilo and Montano defeated a pair from South Carolina, before falling in the final round. Montano and Sean Lodzki earned first-round singles wins on the first day.Â
Melilo and Montano went 2-1 on the weekend, earning triumphs against two pairs from South Carolina. The Ospreys picked up four wins in the consolation round on the second day of the Carolina Invite.Â
2. Taking Inventory
Coach Dunagan will be sending all eight of her players to the Mercer Invite … North Florida returns All-ASUN second team and all-freshman Ana Paula Melilo and fellow sophomore Sean Lodzki ... Seniors Lucia Montaño and Constanza Gorches, juniors Valentina Mariotto and Florencia Rossi, sophomore Kendall Nash and Lea Grinberg will also be making appearances.Â
3. Osprey Debut
This fall marks head coach Catherine Dunagan's first season with the Ospreys. Dunagan comes to UNF following one season serving as the associate head coach for women's tennis at Furman University. Prior to that, she had a seven-year stint as the head women's tennis coach at Presbyterian College.
4. Last Year Against Mercer
This is the Ospreys' first time competing at the Mercer Invite. Last season, UNF topped Mercer 5-2 in the spring season. North Florida swept all three doubles matches and took four singles wins.Â
5. Tournament Format
The tournament begins Friday, Sept. 20, and goes through Sunday, Sept. 22 … Each day features singles and doubles play … On Friday singles play begins at 8:30 a.m. for Flight A and 10:00 a.m. for Flight B ...Doubles play follows that day at 4:30 p.m. for Flight A and 5:00 p.m. for Flight B.
