THOUGHTS FROM COACH JEFF PIGG
"We are really looking forward to hosting the championships. While it is plenty of work for our staff, it is an honor to host the ASUN Championship. Our teams like the opportunity to compete here and it is a chance to compete in front of family and friends. 'Take what you have and make the most out of it' has been our motto for quite some time. There are a few disciplines we don't contest so that eliminates us from a team title, but there are plenty of opportunities to win individual championships."

On the Men's Team -
"Men's high jump is an area of emphasis for us. Bobby (Harris) and Jaasiel (Torres) are jumping well and it will be a strong event for us. In the 800m, George Escobar, Chris Robin and Timothy Doyle have top UNF marks and are in the hunt for top finishes, but it is a strong event and competition will be fierce. Prior to the 800, Timothy will be running the 1500m while George and Chris will be doubling back from the 400m. George and Chris have continued to be impressive in this fast race. They love to compete and it will be a good opportunity for them to race with the ASUN's best. The 1500m has Jared Vazquez, who has been running well as of late and it is exciting to see him breaking through to the next level. Jared and Timothy just need to continue to enjoy the opportunity and do what got them to this level. The 1500m should be a good event for us. The 3000m Steeplechase features Fynn Timm, a three-time winner in the ASUN that should be ready for the challenge. He is very talented and has four-year of base under his belt. Early in the season when he ran 9:03, he was just pacing himself and I think there is more there. Leo Christian and freshman Sean Snyder should also be in the hunt as they are looking good here late in the year. The distance events (5000m - 10,000m) have Noah (Perkins) and Nathan (Jubran) and they are ready to roll. They both are having great years and it will be fun to see them lineup in the 10K. Our training is strength based and they are ready to make a strong late season debut in the 10,000m. Everyone lines up really tired for the 5000m at the end of the meet and it comes down to who wants it, who is prepared, and who is tough. I believe we will be ready for the challenge. Austin Thompson will compete in both the pole vault and long jump. He has continued to learn the system while maturing and improving as an athlete. I think he can have the best jumps of his life this weekend. He thrives on pressure and competition, so it is a chance for him to vault well and come back strong in the long jump."

On the Women's Team -
"Jenn Brunson is having a breakout year in the 400m. She is a tough competitor and I think she can score in a very strong event for us. In the 400m hurdles, Jade (Sullivan) and Crystal (Liebenberg) are looking very good this year. They have ran the best of their careers and are in a good spot as we head into the championships. This could be a strong event for us. The 800m will be a fun event for us as Harley (Horsley) and Skye (Zeller) are making progress. In the 1500m, Lydia (van Dijk) is back after a three week break due to a sprained ankle but she crosstrained very hard and is feeling good so it will fun for her to see how she can do. There is no longer a target on her to place so high,  so everything she can get is a bonus for the team. Grace (Gumpel) and Audrey (Carpenter) will be coming back from the 3000m Steeplechase on Friday, but they will be fine and race well. it will be a nice opportunity for us. Camryn (Cooney), Sadie (McLaughlin) and Raquel (Lespasio) have been working together with this 10000m race in mind. It will be the 10k debut for these three girls, but we hve planned all year to do this event so they are ready for the race. Camryn competed very well at the Indoor ASUN placing third in the 5000m and is having a very strong freshman year. On the field, high jumper Kaley (Petrosky) is having a strong freshman year and really feeling good right now so it will be great to see her jump a PR. Khorri (Newton) is a former placer at the ASUN meet and good competitor so she will bring her A game."
