Ospreys Tripped Up By No. 10/11 Stetson, Down Mercer

MACON, Ga. - The Ospreys (17-12, 4-2 ASUN) improved to 4-2 in ASUN play after splitting two matches on the second of two days in Macon. UNF dropped a 4-1 match to No. 10/11 Stetson before getting its own 4-1 win against Mercer.

Match 1 | No. 10/11 Stetson 4, UNF 1

Sophomore Callie Workman and Dana Roskic's win at the four spot was gritty to say the least. While Stetson took the match, the duo won a miraculous three-setter, 34-32, 18-21, 16-14. In the process they moved to 20-8 on the year, winning their sixth straight.
Madilyn McCarty and Nicole DeBolt took the opening set against Darby Dunn and Sammee Thomas, but the Hatters' duo rallied to win the last two.

Match 2 | UNF 4, Mercer 1

The Ospreys took all but one match to sweep Mercer for the weekend.
UNF swept five of the six matches, including the extras pair.
Kirby Smith and Lauren Galinis played their second match of the season as a pair at the four slot.
Roskic and Workman played their fourth match of the year at the five spot.

"We lost a tough one versus Stetson again this morning, 4-1. We rallied after waiting two matches to defeat Mercer, 4-1. Kirby Smith was re-inserted back into the lineup where she was removed with Lauren Galinis at the four slot. I'm really proud of Callie and Roskic, a freshman, as they closed out the weekend, 4-0. We'll be gearing up for FGCU at home for senior day this Thursday at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m." -- Head coach Kristen Wright

UNF closes out ASUN play and regular season competition with two matches against FGCU Thursday, April 11. First serve is set for 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. from Jacksonville Beach.

Notes

Roskic and Workman are the first to 20 wins as a pair this year for UNF.
The Ospreys have played eight matches against nationally-ranked opponents.
UNF is 5-12 against Stetson at neutral sites.
The Ospreys improve to 18-2 against the Bears in series history.
McCarty won a team-high 21 times last year. Roskic and Workman tied her tally today.
