Beach Volleyball Closes Regular Season With Senior Day Sweep

UNF Honors Nicole DeBolt, Chaney Howard and Brittany Pase

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. - UNF sent its senior trio out in style with a doubleheader sweep of FGCU in the regular season finale Thursday, April 11. The Ospreys (19-12, 6-2 ASUN) downed FGCU (10-9, 0-4 ASUN).

North Florida closed out the regular season with the doubleheader sweep and will await its seeding in the ASUN Championship.

All results through April 13 will be considered in the seeding-selection process. The top teams from each ASUN division (North and South) garner automatic bids, while the final four teams will be considered at-large selections. At-large teams will be seeding according to:

Match 1 | UNF 3, FGCU 2

Key wins at the fourth and five slots vaulted the Ospreys to a 2-0 lead.
Kirby Smith and Lauren Galinis swept Cortney Van Liew and Alayna Ryan and Dana Roskic and Callie Workman overcame a 1-0 deficit with 21-19, 15-13, set victories at the four slot.
Chaney Howard and Brittany Pase picked up their 10th win of the year to clinch the match.
FGCU salvaged two at the second and third slots, winning in three sets.

Match 2 | UNF 3, FGCU 2

Different match, nearly a same result at the four and five positions. Roskic and Workman rebounded to win in three sets once again, and Smith and Galinis took things in three.
Nicole DeBolt and Madilyn McCarty dispatched Snowy Burnam and Kayla Whetstone, 21-12, 21-17, clinching things at the three spot.
FGCU took positions one and two, winning a pair of three-set decisions.

"The best gift that you can give to your seniors is to win both matches and we did. FGCU is a good team and we always know that we will go hard, and I'm proud of our girls. I felt that we took care of business on our side of the court. We have a few things to clean up, but I'm just proud that we hung in there. Ones and three flipped jobs and I really we were in contention in every single dual and that is progress for us. Workman and Roskic finished the regular season with 23 wins, the most for any UNF pair.
