Beach Volleyball Splits Final Day in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - UNF was topped by a tough Tampa squad in the opener before sweeping Saint Leo for the second time this season on the final day at the Eckerd College Battle on the Bay weekend invitational.

Tampa 4, (RV) UNF 1
UNF had chances in every match, particular at slots one through three. The Spartans won the top three spots in the maximum number of sets though in their 4-1 win. Antonia Harrison and Chaney Howard got on the board with a first set win, but UT edged the top pair 16-14 in the third set to take the match.

A similar outcome transpired for Madilyn McCarty and Nicole DeBolt at pair number three, with UT's Katie McKiel and Sorrel Houghton winning a marathon, 19-17, decisive set.

Blaire Register and Carolyn Cain garnered a 21-8, 21-15 triumph at the fifth slot.

(RV) UNF 5, Saint Leo 0
UNF needed only 10 sets to sweep the Lions (4-8) for the second time in 2019. Harrison and Howard bumped their record to 7-4 on the year while Callie Workman and Dana Roskic moved to a team-best, 8-3.

"We had an okay weekend. We have some things to clean up as we take on ASU again next week. Tampa performed well today and there was a lot of good feedback from that match. It's back to work before we head west." -- Head coach Kristen Wright.
