Beach Volleyball’s Long Road Trip Starts in Arizona

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A stretch of five matches in three days at two locations is on deck for the UNF beach volleyball squad when it heads to Phoenix followed by Tucson.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - UNF was topped by a tough Tampa squad in the opener before sweeping Saint Leo for the second time this season on the final day at the Eckerd College Battle on the Bay weekend invitational.

Receiving Votes
The Ospreys have received votes for three consecutives weeks in the AVCA Coaches Poll. UNF also received votes in the March 4 and 11 DiG Magazine Collegiate Beach Volleyball Poll.

Getting Familiar

Freshman Dana Roskic and sophomore Callie Workman went 3-0 last weekend, winning six of the seven sets that they played as they improved to 6-1 as a pair on the year. Their performance earned them ASUN Pair of the Week laurels.
Senior Chaney Howard became UNF's all-time wins leader after earning her 62nd victory in a 5-0 sweep of Eckerd March 8. Howard earned it alongside Antonia Harrison, surpassing Courtney Miller's previously-held record of 61.

A Tough Schedule

The AVCA Collegiate Beach Volleyball Preseason Poll was announced Monday, Feb. 11, and included on that list of teams at least receiving votes are 12 teams set to play North Florida this upcoming season.
UNF will play matches against three opponents that are at least receiving votes in the two prominent national polls.

The Lopes are 8-2 on the season after sweeping the weekend against Arizona Christian, New Mexico and San Diego City College.
Grand Canyon is on a six-match winning streak.
They came into the season ranked No. 16.

Arizona State

The Sun Devils are 7-3 and on a five-match winning streak. During that streak ASU picked up a 5-0 victory against UNF.
Arizona State has picked up some other notable wins, defeating FGCU, Washington, Grand Canyon and New Mexico.

New Mexico

The Lobos are 4-6 on th year and 4-1 over their last five.
UNM has lost to No. 17 Grand Canyon, No. 15 Loyola Marymount and again to No. 16 GCU to open the year.

UL - Monroe

The Warhawks are 7-3 and 3-0 at neutral site matches.
ULM has picked up wins against North Alabama, New Mexico and San Jose State among others.

Arizona

The Wildcats are 6-2 overall and 1-2 in the PAC - 12.
UA defeated Oregon, losing to Stanford and USC.
Arizona went 20-12 and 6-3 in conference last season.
