TUCSON, Ariz. - UNF got big play from pairs three through five to upend New Mexico in the nightcap, rebounding from a close defeat against Arizona State in the opener Friday, March 15, on the campus of the University of Arizona.

ASU 3, UNF 2

Madilyn McCarty and Nicole DeBolt won 21-13, 21-17, at the third pair to put UNF ahead, 1-0.
ASU tied it up at the second spot and went on to take number four to go ahead, 2-1. Dana Roskic and Callie Workman hung tight with the Sun Devils' Samantha Plaster and Kate Baldwin before succumbing, 23-21, 21-15.
The match's only three-set encounter proved to be the decisive one. After falling 21-17 in the first set, Chaney Howard and Antonia Harrison evened it up with a 21-13 triumph. Olly Okaro and Ashley Wenz were too much in the third, winning 15-6.
Carolyn Cain and Blaire Register earned a 21-15, 27-25 win after the match was clinched.

UNF 3, UNM 2

UNF pounced to a 2-0 lead behind Roskic/Workman at four and Register/Cain at the five spot. Both won their respective matches in straight sets.
UNM got one back at the first slot, but McCarty/DeBolt clinched things with a 21-13, 21-18 win.
Brittany Pase and Lauren Galinis had a shot at the second spot before falling short in three sets.

"We had a very good day today. We fell short in a battle against ASU this morning, but improved from being swept to being within points of the match. Naturally, those sting, but regardless we needed to play the next match, and we did. We matched up well in pairs three-five [against UNM] and took care of business; we fought well at one and two. Cain/Register and McCarty/DeBolt are playing really well right now. We're eager to play tomorrow against more good competition." -- Head coach Kristen Wright
