Osprey Pair Brings Home Doubles Title on Final Day at Bedford Cup

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The North Florida women's tennis team had a chance to bring home three titles on day three at the Bedford Cup. Doubles partners Ana Paula Melilo and Lucia Montano brought home the Doubles Flight A Title. Valentina Mariotto and Montano came up short in their singles finals.
Melilo and Montano went 4-0 on the weekend, earning triumphs against pairs from Florida International, South Florida and Florida Atlantic. The pair downed Radka Buzkova and May Kimhi from FAU 6-2 to bring home the title.
Montano fell in the Singles Flight A final to Central Florida's Nandini Sharma in the first two sets, finishing the weekend 3-1. Mariotto ended her time in Fort Myers in the final round of Singles Flight B Consolation bracket 2-2, earning wins from UCF and USF.Â
The Ospreys are back on the road Friday, Oct. 18 for the ITA Regionals in Tallahassee, Fla.
