JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The UNF women's tennis team heads to Tallahassee, Fla., this weekend for the ITA Regionals.
1. Last Time Out
Fort Myers, Fla. - Doubles partners Ana Paula Melilo and Lucia Montano brought home the Doubles Flight A Title. Melilo and Montano went 4-0 on the weekend, earning triumphs against pairs from Florida International, South Florida, and Florida Atlantic. Valentina Mariotto and Montano came up short in their singles finals. Montano fell in the Singles Flight A final to Central Florida's Nandini Sharma, finishing the weekend 3-1. Mariotto ended her time in Fort Myers in the final round of Singles Flight B Consolation bracket 2-2, earning wins from UCF and USF.Â

2. Taking Inventory
Coach Dunagan will be sending all four of her players to the ITA Regionals … North Florida returns All-ASUN second team and all-freshman Ana Paula Melilo ... Seniors Lucia Montaño and Constanza Gorches and junior Valentina Mariotto will also be making appearances. Gorches will play in the qualifying round of singles Thursday. Teammates Melilo, Montano and Mariotto will play in the main draw Friday.Â
3. Notable Opponents
The ITA Regionals features teams from Florida, UCF, USF, FIU, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern, Miami, Kennesaw, Georgia State, Mercer, Florida Atlantic, Florida A&M, Stetson, FGCU, and host Florida State.
4. Last Year in the ITA Regionals
Ana Paula Melilo advanced to the finals in the singles consolation bracket. Melilo started off the third day with a victory against Lucia Marzal of Miami and made quick work of her in the first set, 6-1, before Marzal came back to battle. Melilo didn't let her come back though as she took the second set, 7-5. Rafela Gomez '19 and Gorches advanced to the doubles quarterfinals, but fell to a pair from Georgia 8-5.Â
5. Tournament Format
Thursday: 9 a.m. qualifying singles rounds one and two followed by qualifying doubles round one
Friday: 9 a.m. main draw doubles followed by main draw singles
Saturday: 9 a.m. main draw doubles and singles consolation, 10 a.m. main draw doubles quarterfinals and singles consolation, 1 p.m. main draw singles ( followed by singles consolation
Sunday: 9 a.m. main draw doubles semifinals followed by main draw singles quarterfinals, singles consolation quarterfinals, main draw singles semifinals, and singles consolation semifinals
Monday: 9 a.m. main draw doubles final, followed by singles consolation final and main draw singles final.Â
