Beach Volleyball Travels To St. Augustine

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida welcomes some of the best beach volleyball teams to St. Augustine beginning on Saturday for the UNF Beach Invitational. The two-day tournament is at the St. Augustine Pier as the Ospreys face FAU, LSU, A&M Corpus Christi and South Carolina.

NOTEABLES
- Juniors Courtney Miller and Brittany Pase opened the year with a 3-0 mark. With her three wins, Miller, moved into fifth place in career wins in school history.
- Miller sits just 10 wins away from tying the program record set by Cameron McGuire who played at UNF from 2012-15.
- In the No. 3 position, freshman Casey Justice paired with sophomore Madilyn McCarty for a perfect 3-0 mark.
-The freshmen duo of Carolyn Cain and Blaire Register also picked up a trio of wins for the Ospreys.
- UNF opened the season with three straight wins for just the second time in program history. During the 2014 season, UNF also won its first three matches of the year.Â
- UNCW and Georgia State are also participating this weekend in St. Augustine. While the Ospreys will not face the Seahawks or the Panthers this weekend, UNF is slated to face Georgia State on March 23 in Atlanta and UNCWÂ on March 31 in Wilmington.

- The pairs of Nicole Grant and Nicole Navarro as well as Erica Brok and Mackenzie Morris both sit with a record of 2-2.
- The Owls played against two nationally-ranked teams as they fell to No. 4 Florida State and No. 9 South Carolina.
- UNF won 4-1Â last time out against FAUÂ in March of 2016Â and have taken six of eight prior meetings from the Owls.

- After starting the season 3-1, LSU is sixth in the latest AVCA poll.
- The pair of Kristen Nuss and Claire Coppola earned CCSA pair of the week honors following a 4-0 performance last weekend.
- The Tigers have played three ranked teams and have two on the slate this weekend.
- UNF dropped its only prior meeting to LSU 4-1Â in March of 2017.
- The Islanders open their third season of the program this weekend in St. Augustine.
- TAMCC will be led by first year head coach Gayle Stammer.
- They will battle a pair of ranked teams this weekend in Georgia State and FAU.
- UNF and TAMCCÂ meet on Sunday for the first time in each school's respective histories.

- After starting the season 3-1, South Carolina is ninth in the latest AVCA poll.
- At the No. 1 spot, Ali Denney and Shannon Williams lead the team with a record of 3-1
- The Gamecocks lone loss came to Florida State, who is ranked fourth in the latest AVCA Poll.Â
- The Ospreys dropped a 5-0 decision to the Gamecocks last season. UNF won three of the first five meetings against South Carolina, but has dropped the last two meetings.Â
