STATESBORO, Ga. -- The No. 33-ranked North Florida men's golf team climbed three spots to finish seventh after firing a season low 12-under 276 on Sunday in the final round of the Schenkel Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club.
The Ospreys finished the 54-hole event with a total of 20-under 844, the team's lowest score of the season and sixth lowest total in program history.
UNF saw a quartet of players record rounds under par on the final day led by freshman Andrew Alligood's 4-under 68. Senior Taylor Hancock and sophomore Jordan Batchelor both tallied rounds of 3-under 69 followed by freshman Philip Knowles at 2-under 70 and sophomore Dillon Woods with an even-par 72.

"The guys played better today and had a nice bounce back finish," said head coach Scott Schroeder. "I think they would all say that it should have even been better. This week was primarily about not being able to hole putts consistently in each round. Thankfully this is something that is very fixable, so we will take a few days off and get back to work after playing twice this past week."
Alligood finished tied for 10th (208) as the squad's top performer, marking his third Top 10 showing of the spring. Knowles tied for 21st (211) and Hancock tied for 25th (212) to join him in the Top 25. Batchelor finished tied for 37th at 214 while Woods rounded out the UNF lineup in a tie for 57th at 219. Freshman Travis Trace played as an individual and shot a final round 74 to finish tied for 66th (222).
No. 15 Vanderbilit posted a final round 269 to claim the team title of the 14-team field with a three round total of 823. No. 10 Wake Forest finished second at 833 followed by No. 32 Kentucky (839), No. 40 North Carolina State (839) and No. 4 Auburn (841) filling out the Top 5 squads. Auburn's Michael Johnson topped Vandy's Will Gordon in two playoff holes to earn the individual medalist title at 13-under 203.
North Florida will now take several weeks off from competition before returning to action on Apr. 9-10 at the Irish Creek Collegiate inn Kannapolis, N.C.
