STATESBORO, Ga. -- No. 33-ranked North Florida men's golf returns to the links for the second time in a week as the Ospreys begin play Friday morning in the Schenkel Invitational hosted by Georgia Southern at Forest Heights Country Club.
UNF recently finished seventh at last weekend's General Hackler Championship in Myrtle Beach, S.C., led by the play of senior Taylor Hancock, who was named the Atlantic Sun's Golfer of the Week. The Osprey lineup for the Schenkel will be the same as the Hackler with Hancock joined by sophomores Dillon Woods and Jordan Batchelor and the freshmen duo of Andrew Alligood and Philip Knowles. In addition, freshman Travis Trace will compete in the event as an individual.

"The Schenkel is a bit of a different event," said head coach Scott Schroeder. "It is hosted in a small town and many people come out to watch each day so there ends up being some bigger galleries like at our home event, The Hayt. The course forces you to be patient and keep the ball in the right spots and sometimes results in unusual breaks, so it will be important for us to handle adversity the right way."
The three-day, 54 hole event features a field of 14 teams and will be played on a par 72, 6,962 yard layout at historic Forest Heights. The tournament field is highlighted by nine teams ranked in the nation's Top 50. UNF and Georgia Southern are joined in the field by No. 4 Auburn, Wake Forest (10), Vanderbilt (15), North Carolina (19), Kentucky (32), North Carolina State (40), UAB (42), College of Charleston (49), Georgia State, Iowa, Harvard and Boston College.
North Florida begins first round play at 9 a.m. on Hole 1 and will play alongside Kentucky and North Carolina State. Live scoring every three holes will be available online at Golfstat.com.
