MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Sparked by four players in red numbers on Sunday, No. 30-ranked North Florida men's golf secured a seventh-place finish in the General Hackler Championship after posting a final round 6-under 282 at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club.
Sophomores Dillon Woods and Jordan Batchelor shared team best honors on the final day after carding matching rounds of 2-under 70 while senior Taylor Hancock and freshman Andrew Alligood followed with rounds of 1-under 71. The Ospreys concluded the 54-hole competition with a score of 861 and claimed their fourth consecutive Top 10 finish of the spring season.
"We played a very solid round today as a group," said head coach Scott Schroeder. "Overall for the weekend we played a bunch of good golf. Unfortunately, the 12 hole stretch yesterday was bad enough to not allow us a chance to compete for the win today. We will learn from it and be better prepared the next time."

Hancock was the squad's top finisher in the event earning a tie for seventh at 4-under 212, which marked his best showing of the spring. Alligood finished at even-par 216 for a tie for 22nd, his fifth straight Top 25 finish. Woods moved up 10 spots in finishing tied for 31st (218) and Batchelor claimed a tie for 35th (219). Freshman Philip Knowles posted a final round 73 and finished tied for 47th (223) in rounding out the UNF lineup for the event. Additionally, freshman Travis Trace competed in the tournament as an individual, finishing tied for 75th (233) after a final round 80.
No. 19 South Carolina captured the team title in the 15-team field with a three-round total of 841, with No. 24 Virginia finishing second at 848. Kent State used the best final round score to finish third at 852 with No. 16 North Carolina (855) and No. 43 North Carolina State (857) filling out the Top 5. The Gamecocks' Matthew NeSmith and Virginia's Jimmy Stanger shared medalist honors with scores of 9-under 207.
North Florida makes a quick return to competition as the Ospreys open up play Friday at the Schenkel Invitational (Mar. 18-20) in Statesboro, Ga.
