TULSA, Okla. - The North Florida men's tennis duo of senior Jack Findel-Hawkins and junior Lasse Muscheites have done it again and are on their way to the ITA All-American Doubles Championship against the No. 2 team from California.
The championship match is set for 10:30 a.m. EST. With the victory, Findel-Hawkins and Muscheites face off with California's Filip Bergevi and Florian Lakatoubles who earned a preseason ranking of No. 2 after making the NCAA doubles quarterfinals to close out 2016.
"I am just really happy for us that we got through to the finals," said Muscheites. "We just played match-for-match and stuck to our games. We believed in it no matter what. We got through a lot of adversity and we are really excited to go out there tomorrow and play for the championship."
Findel-Hawkins and Muscheites battled in the quarterfinals against Gergely Madarasz and Ricardo Medinilla of Purdue. The Ospreys had little trouble against the Boilermakers as UNF won, 6-2, 6-4.Â
The doubles finalists receive an automatic entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships on Nov. 3-6, held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
