
Men's Tennis Doubles Head to ITA Quarterfinals

TULSA, Okla. - North Florida men's tennis duo of Jack Findel-Hawkins and Lasse Muscheites are heading to the ITA All-American Championship Doubles Quarterfinals after a great win against the No. 5 pair from Tennessee on Friday afternoon at the Tulsa Case Tennis Center.
The Ospreys took down Jack Schipanski and Luis Valero who are ranked No. 5 in the preseason. Muscheites and Findel-Hawkins had no problem overcoming the Volunteers as they took the 6-3, 6-2, victory to advance. In the quarterfinals, the Ospreys face the No. 11 duo of Luca Corintelli and Thai-Son Kwiatkowski from Virginia.
Findel-Hawkins also had a strong showing in the backdraw of the singles bracket as he advances. The junior took down No. 12 Konrad Zieba (Northwestern), 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. Findel-Hawkins now faces 22nd-ranked Julian Cash from Oklahoma.
"It is a fantastic job for the guys to make the quarterfinals," said head coach Mark Finnegan. "I am really proud of them."
Doubles begin at 2:30 p.m. CST, while Findel-Hawkins singles match will happen after he has had time to cool down from doubles.Â
North Florida is playing for a chance to receive an automatic entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships on Nov. 3-6, held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York. Both doubles finalists and consolation champions earn the entries in addition to the singles champion.
