SAVANNAH, Ga. – Redshirt senior Tyler Moore was the latest Osprey starting pitcher to put forth a dominant effort on the mound in an 11-0 victory over Savannah State (20-31) this evening. The Ospreys have now won eight-straight games and improve to 36-13 on the season.

Moore was terrific in his eighth start of the 2015 and struck out a season-high six batters. He surrendered his only two hits in the first and third innings but went on to retire 12 batters in a row. He combined for his third shutout and won his 15th game of his career.

The North Florida pitching staff has not surrendered a run 22 consecutive innings and tonight marks the first time since 2010 the Ospreys have shut out back-to-back opponents. In the last four games, Osprey starting pitchers are 3-0 with a 0.37 ERA in 24.1 innings pitched.

A trio of Ospreys collected three hits on the night, Kyle Brooks, Donnie Dewees and Corbin Olmstead. Brooks went 3-for-6 with two runs scored from the lead-off spot. Dewees extended his hit streak to an A-Sun best, 25 games with a double in the first inning. The outfielder was 3-for-5 and scored his 72nd run of the season. Olmstead drove in three runs and finished the night 3-for-5 with two runs scored.

Senior Alex Bacon plated the fourth run of the night for the Ospreys coming on as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning. The single was his 200th of his career and he became the ninth member of the North Florida 200th hit club. He was 2-for-2 with two RBIs on the night.

Alex Smith came on in relief in the seventh inning and tossed two scoreless innings. He struck out two batters and allowed only one hit. Corbin Olmstead struck out two batters in the bottom of the ninth to preserve the third shutout of the season for the Ospreys.
The North Florida offense did most of its damage in the final three innings, including a six-run eighth inning. The Ospreys have been prone to the big inning all season and have scored six or more runs in an inning nine times this year. North Florida matched a season-high with 21 hits and came into the contest ranked fifth in the country in hits.

The Ospreys will continue their journey north to conclude its Atlantic Sun Conference road schedule against USC Upstate this weekend. The opening game of the series is scheduled for Friday at 6:00 p.m. in Spartanburg, S.C.
