#SandVB Closes Dual Match Slate with Tough Loss to Tulane

SIESTA KEY, Fla. -- The North Florida sand volleyball team dropped a tough 3-2 decision to Tulane on Friday in the squad's final regular season dual match of the season.
The Ospreys (9-10) collected victories from the No. 2 and 5 pairs and forced a third set at No. 4 but were unable to defeat the Green Wave (15-9).
Tessa Alyman and Tanner Garbutt claimed UNF's first point of the match at No. 2 after sweeping Tulane's tandem of Hannah Holmes and Grace Weaver, 21-9, 21-16.
At No. 5, Ebony Gunn and Emily Davanzo captured their first set 21-18 before the Green Wave's pairing of Miah Diirell and Sarah Stanser answered back with a 21-9 win. In the decisive third set the Osprey duo edged their opponent's 15-13 to earn the victory.
Playing in the No. 4 spot, UNF's Ambre Desaulnay and Kimberly Ferguson dropped their first set 21-18 to TU's Madeline Mertz and Lan Nguyen before taking set two, 22-20. Tulane's pair battled back to win the final set 15-7 and seal the team victory.
North Florida's pairs will now spend the next two days competing in the Fiesta on Siesta flighted tournament. The event will conclude the Osprey's regular season schedule with the Atlantic Sun Championships slated to begin Friday, Apr. 17 in Ft. Myers, Fla.
