
#SandVB Drops Pair of Matches at No. 9 Stetson

DeLAND, Fla. -- The North Florida sand volleyball team battled No. 9-ranked Stetson in a pair of competitive dual matches Wednesday that pitted the top two Atlantic Sun Conference squads at the Stetson Sand Volleyball Complex.
The Ospreys (8-8, 3-3 ASun) fell by the scores 5-0 and 4-1 to the Hatters (16-2, 6-0 ASun) with five of the ten duals going to decisive third sets.
In the opening match, Stetson earned a sweep but three pairs advanced to the third set. No. 2,pair Tessa Aylman/Tanner Garbutt and No. 5 pair Ebony Gunn/Emily Davanzo both forced a third set before being edged 15-13 in the final frame. No. 4 tandem Kimberly Ferguson/Julie Trembley won their first set but fell 22-20 in the second set and were outlasted 15-10 in the deciding third set.
In the second match, Davanzo and Gunn turned the tables at No. 5 winning a three-set thriller 17-21, 21-19, 15-12 to capture the first Osprey point. Additionally, UNF nearly forced a third set at both No. 2 and No. 3 spots but dropped hard fought 22-20 decisons in their second frames.
North Florida next concludes its Atlantic Sun Conference schedule next Wednesday (Apr. 8) with a doubleheader dual match at crosstown rival Jacksonville.
