NEW ORLEANS, La. – University of North Florida sand volleyball began its Spring Break trip with a split on Wednesday. The Ospreys powered past New Orleans 5-0, but fell 3-2 to Louisiana-Monroe. The 5-0 sweep against New Orleans was UNF's first shutout of the season.

The No. 1 duo of Cari Whitmire and Cameron McGuire, who were named the Atlantic Sun Pair of the Week earlier on Wednesday, claimed a 21-15, 21-11 victory against Cara Sander and Celeste Ramirez.
Tessa Alyman and Jess Kenlaw defeated Lauren Levy and Brooklyn Frank 21-11, 21-10 on the No. 2 court. Tanner Garbutt and Julie Trembley cruised past Mikayla Sellers-Wiebe and Sophie Gracey 21-10, 21-9 at the No. 3 position. At No. 4, Ambre Desaulnay and Kimberly Ferguson took a two-set 21-9, 21-16 win over Kelsea Hundtoft and Camila Lau. The No. 5 pair of Haley Harrison and Emily Davanzo downed Courtney Roblez and Ashley Everett 21-10, 21-12.

However, in the day's second match, UNF was only able to get wins from its No. 3 and No. 4 pairs. Trembley and Garbutt edged out Alannah Cullum and Claire Crossfield 21-19, 21-16 at the No. 3 position. The No. 4 pair Desaulnay and Ferguson hung on for a three-set 21-17, 15-21, 17-15 triumph over Hadley Swartz and Bayleigh Hoffman.

UNF continues with its Spring Break trip with the three-day Tiger Sand Tournament hosted by LSU. The Ospreys play Spring Hill, host LSU, New Orleans and FIU in the first two days. The tournament concludes with Flighted Bracket Play on Sunday.
