ATHENS, Ga. – The North Florida swim team had plenty to cheer for on the final day of Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Championships. The Ospreys had eight swimmers qualify for evening finals and finished in eighth place in the overall team rankings with 324 points.

"This team showed a lot this weekend both in and out of the pool," said Head Coach ian Coffey. "A lot of these young ladies dropped times and their enthusiasm from start to finish this week was great to see. This was a total team effort and I'm proud of the way the girls swam. This is a good conference with good coaches and we were competing with every swim."

As a team, the Ospreys were 118 points better than their finish in last year's meet.
Â
Sophomore Kara Plocharsky qualified for the evening finals session in two different events. She earned points for the Ospreys after placing 20th in the 1650 free and the 16th in the 200 fly. Her 200 fly time of 2:09.39 in preliminaries was the fastest of her career and fastest of any Osprey this season. In her first time swimming the 1650 this season, she posted a time of 17:54.79, the third fastest by an Osprey this season.

Junior Amy Taylor capped off a terrific meet with a 17th place finish in the 1650 freestyle. She was just off her season-best time set back in the Florida Invitational.

The Ospreys had two qualifiers in the 100 backstroke in Angel Morrison and Janie Kennedy. Morrison placed 19th after knocking of nearly three seconds of her career best. He swam a 59:43 in morning prelims and then topped that time in finals by posting a 59.08. Kennedy's time of 59.65 was the best this season and a half a second off her career best time.

Senior Natalie McCallum capped off her stellar four-year career at North Florida with a 21st place finish in the finals of the 200 breaststroke. Â Â She swam her best time of the year in the finals, touching the wall with a 2.26.04.

In perhaps one of the best drops from prelims to finals, Lissa Janowicz was over two seconds better in the evening finals than her prelim time. She qualified for the evening session with a time of 2:09.57 and went on two swim a blistering seaon best of 2:07.04
