
@OspreyWBB Heads to No. 14 Florida State Tuesday Morning

TALLAHASSE, Fla. – The North Florida women's basketball team will head to the state capital on Tuesday to take on No. 14 Florida State (2-1). The 11:00 a.m. start will be in conjunction with FSU's elementary school day and will be aired live on ESPN3.

Against the Big Ten: Two of the Ospreys three losses this season have come against Big Ten opponents. Prior to the season, North Florida last showdown from a Big Ten program came in 2005 against Indiana. Last Monday in Lincoln, Nebraska topped the Ospreys 91-46 while Purdue came away with a 70-47 victory at UNF Arena.

Third Quarter Success: After falling behind by double digits in the first halves against Nebraska and Purdue, the Ospreys were outscore both teams in the third quarter. The Ospreys had third period advantages of 21-18 and 18-17 against Nebraska and Purdue respectively.

At the Buzzer: Sophomore Sierra Shepherd hit a running, three-pointer from the top of the three-point arc at the sound of the horn that ended the first quarter on Saturday. Junior Claire Ioannidis followed suit at the end of the third quarter with a jumper of her own with four seconds remaining in the third quarter on Saturday.

Role Reversal: A game after dishing out eight assists, Sierra Shepherd was the team's leading scorer against Purdue on Saturday. The sophomore guard put together all around solid effort with 14 points, five points and five rebounds.

Block Party: Junior Karrah Johnson has registered a blocked shot in each of the Ospreys first four games. Averaging 12.5 minutes per game she is tied for fourth in the A-Sun with 25 rebounds and four blocks.

All-Time Series: Tuesday will be the sixth meeting in a series that began in 2007. The Seminoles have won all five meetings, including four at the Tucker Center. In the matchup at UNF Arena in 2008, the Ospreys were within five points at the half before falling, 60-49.

About Florida State: The Seminoles slipped in the polls from No. 6 to No. 14 after a loss to unranked Florida. Since the season-opening loss, Florida State has topped Tulane (78-72) and UAB (84-44). The Seminoles are led by a trio of double-digit scorers. Adut Bulgak is averaging 21.3 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. The reigning ACC Player of the Week has recorded a double-double in each of the first three games and is second in the league in both points and rebounds per game.Â
