JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida softball completed the series sweep of cross-town rival Jacksonville with a 7-2 win on Sunday afternoon at the UNF Softball Complex during the SunTrust River City Rumble.

"This was a pivotal weekend and we got back on track with playing our game," said head coach Marcie Hickey. "It's always great to win against your cross-town rival. This weekend will have a big impact in the Atlantic Sun standings as we head down the stretch of the conference season."

UNF (22-18, 7-11 Atlantic Sun) opened up scoring in the second inning as Ashia Kerr hit a two-out homer to center field to make it 1-0. The Ospreys added to their lead in the third as Mariah Reynolds blasted a three-run home run to center field as well to put UNF up 4-0.

Jacksonville (14-23, 5-12 Atlantic Sun) cut the Ospreys' lead in half in the top of the four by taking advantage of two miscues. With one out and runners on second and third, a fielding miscue allowed Codi Kelly to get home. With two outs and runners on the corners, another Osprey fielding miscue resulted in Miranda Fleming scoring to make it a 4-2 game.

UNF added runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth to push its lead to five. Ashley Holton drilled a double that brought in Lexi Taylor in the fourth. In the fifth, Katie Mandigo smacked a two-run double down the right field line that gave UNF the 7-2 lead.

Kaylie Wallace was credited with the win after coming in for the final 3.1 innings. She limited the Dolphins to just one hit and no runs and struck out three.

Victoria Brown received the loss after allowing four runs – one earned – off three hits in 2.2 innings.

Seven Ospreys each recorded one hit. Reynolds tallied three RBI and two runs scored.

Four different Dolphins each had one hit.

UNF returns to action with its final nonconference doubleheader of the regular season on Wednesday. The Ospreys visit Bethune-Cookman for a twinbill that starts at 2 p.m., at Sunnyland Park.
