KENNESAW, Ga. – Abby Tewey's sacrifice fly in the sixth inning brought home the game's only run as University of North Florida softball defeated Kennesaw State 1-0 in the series finale on Sunday at the Bailey Softball Complex.

With the bases loaded and one out, Tewey sent her sacrifice fly deep enough to left field to allow Kelly Wilson to score the eventual game-winner.

The game was a pitching duel as neither team registered a hit until the fourth inning. Mariah Reynolds had the Ospreys' lone hit with a one-out single up the middle in the top half of the fourth. Kennesaw State got its first of five hits as Natalie Rhodes had a lead-off single to right field in the bottom of the fourth.

Kennesaw State threatened in the seventh with one out and runners on first and second. As Bianca Durant had a single to center field, Danica Mandarano threw out Courtney Sutter at the plate to record the inning's second out keep the Owls off the scoreboard. A groundout to Marissa Thomas at third preserved the win for the Ospreys.

Kaylie Wallace received the win after pitching 6.0 innings and allowing just four hits. Kayla Goff was credited with the save after pitching the final 0.2 inning and allowing one hit.

Paige Mathews had the loss after allowing one run off one hit in 7.0 innings. She also struck out three.

UNF returns to action on Tuesday with a doubleheader against Bowling Green at the UNF Softball Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
