MACON, Ga. – University of North Florida softball continues its stretch of road games with a three-game Atlantic Sun series at Mercer at Sikes Field. The series starts with a doubleheader on Sunday at 1 p.m., and a single game on Monday at 1 p.m.
Â
"We are coming off a strong weekend at Northern Kentucky and look to continue with the momentum from that performance," said head coach Marcie Hickey. "Mercer is off to a good start, so this weekend should be a battle."
Â
UNF brings a three-game streak of 10-or-more hits. The Ospreys tallied 33 hits during last weekend's series at Northern Kentucky, including a season-tying best 12 during Saturday's Game Two. UNF has tallied double-digit hits in eight games this season.
Â
Meanwhile, the Ospreys got their 30th stolen base of the season during the series finale at Northern Kentucky. It is the fourth consecutive season in which the Ospreys tallied 30+ stolen bases on the year. Last season, UNF finished with a Division I-era record 57 stolen bases. Ashely Holton leads the team in steals with 15, which is tie for ninth in UNF's single-season record book and second in the Atlantic Sun.
Â
Mercer comes of a doubleheader split on Wednesday at Savannah State, falling 2-1 in Game One before rebounding with a 6-1 win in Game Two. The Bears have won their last four Atlantic Sun games and swept Jacksonville last weekend. Kaytlin Haney (36) and Caroline Taylor (32) have two of the top four RBI marks in the Atlantic Sun this season with Haney leading the A-Sun. McKenzie Wood leads the conference in steals with 19.
Â
UNF leads the all-time series 10-7 and has won the last four meetings. During last season's three-game series, UNF swept the Bears.
