
#WTEN Heads to South Florida to Face DII No. 3 Barry and No. 14 Clemson

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—No. 63 University of North Florida women's tennis team continues on their 10-match road streak as they travel to South Flordia for two matches. The Ospreys face Division II No. 3 Barry University on Saturday, March 15 and No. 14 Clemson on Sunday, March 16.

Ospreys come off a 5-2 loss to TCU on Tuesday, March 11. Marina Cunningham and Michelle Valdez grabbed the Ospreys' two points. Cunningham defeated Seda Arantekin 7-6 (6-2), 6-1 at the No. 4 position. At No. 6 singles, Valdez won the first set 6-2 and was up 2-1 in the second when Tatum Nowlin retired from the match.

Barry enters the match undefeated with a 15-0 record. In their last outing, they downed NAIA No. 1 Auburn-Montgomery, 8-1. The only loss Barry acquired was at the No. 3 spot where Blanka Szavay fell in three-sets. The Bucanneers boasts three players with undefeated dual match records. Elisabeth Abanda brings a 12-0 record, Kimmy Twelker has a 7-0 record, while Christina Valladares goes into the match with a 5-0 record.

Clemson brings a 12-3 record into the weekend, and faces Maryland on Friday. In their last match, the Tigers downed Pittsburgh 7-0. The Tigers have three singles players and four doubles teams that are nationally-ranked. In singles, Yana Koroleva is ranked No. 42, Romy Koelzer is No. 62 and Tristen Dewar is No. 104. The duo of Koroleva and Gumulya come in at No. 25, while Gumulya and Rompies are No. 39. Koelzer and Dewar are No. 58 and Koroleva and Dewar are No. 70.

The Ospreys face Barry at the Buccaneer Tennis Courts on Saturday at 10 a.m. Clemson and North Florida will meet on the neutral ground of the Buccaneer Tennis Courts at 1 p.m., on Sunday.Â
