JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—The University of North Florida women's tennis team will host its home opener against Florida A&M on Sunday at 1 p.m., at the UNF Tennis Complex.
Â
"This weekend is a good opportunity for the upper classmen to show how much they have grown and for the freshman to get their first test in defending the nest," said head coach Audra Cohen. "I expect there to be opening weekend excitement and am looking forward to see if we embrace the moment and believe in our past two weeks of hard work. "
Â
The Ospreys have met the Rattlers in two tournaments during fall play. The Ospreys were undefeated against the Rattlers throughout the fall, going 4-0. Â
Â
The Ospreys had a couple of weeks off since last in action at the UCF Invitational. At the Invitational the Ospreys accumulated 11 total victories, including Rebeca Pereira going 3-0 on the weekend.
Â
FAMU opened its season with 4-0 loss to Stetson on Jan. 19 at home. The match at UNF begins a five-match out-of-town swing for the Rattlers.
Â
"This is also a special weekend for us because we get to debut our facility upgrades," said Cohen. "We have added the score board and multiple banners that pay tribute to the history of UNF Tennis. This is a big moment for the current players because they are realizing the history they are a part of and they are also more motivated to continue this history. "
Â
Admission for the match at UNF Tennis Complex is free. Fans can also follow along on Twitter at @OspreyWTEN.
