Â
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The final two-game road trip of the regular season begins for University of North Florida women's basketball at USC Upstate on Thursday at 7 p.m., at the Hodge Center. The game will air live on ESPN 3.
Â
The Ospreys come off a tough weekend at home and suffered setbacks to Atlantic Sun co-leaders Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast. However, the last time UNF was on the road, the Ospreys had three players in double figures at both Northern Kentucky and Lipscomb.
Â
It is the first time UNF's final road trip of the regular season includes USC Upstate and ETSU, who the Ospreys play on Saturday. The final road weekend of the regular season has not been too friendly for the Ospreys since joining the Atlantic Sun. Since the 2005-06 season, UNF is 3-8 in its final regular-season road weekend, but has registered one win during its final road weekends each of the last two years.
Â
Paulina Zaveckaite makes her first return to Spartanburg as an Osprey. Zaveckaite's collegiate career began at USC Upstate. As a freshman during the 2011-12 season, she averaged 6.4 points and 7.9 rebounds per game and shot 43.8 percent (60-for-137) in 28 games played.
Â
USC Upstate has already secured a spot on the Atlantic Sun Tournament and is in the mix to host a first-round game. The Spartans come off a 90-78 win at Kennesaw State last Saturday. It was the second time this season they have tallied 90-or-more points against an Atlantic Sun team. Brittany Clency and Brittany Starling average 11.2 and 10.6 points per game. Starling also leads the team with 7.7 rebounds per game.
Â
UNF leads the all-time series 13-11, but USC Upstate was victorious in the last meeting with a 62-51 win over the Ospreys on Jan. 30 at UNF Arena.
