JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida women's basketball could not withstand Florida Gulf Coast's hot shooting on Saturday afternoon and fell 80-54 at UNF Arena.

Ki Conner tallied a team-best 17 points and Destinee Smith added 12 for the Ospreys. Bailey Florin pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

UNF shot 34.5 percent (19-for-55) for the game and had a 42-34 advantage in rebounds.

Five Eagles notched double-digit points with Sarah Hansen tallying a team-best 17. DyTiesha Dunson and Hansen each pulled down five rebounds.

Florida Gulf Coast, who co-leads the Atlantic Sun standings, shot 50.0 percent (29-for-58) for the game, including 54.8 percent (17-for-31) in the first half.

UNF contended with a hot-shooting Florida Gulf Coast team in the first half. The Eagles began the game with a 13-0 run and continued to pull away from UNF. The Ospreys found themselves trailing by as many as 25 in the opening half as Florida Gulf Coast took a 34-9 lead on a Jenna Cobb three-pointer at 7:46. UNF cut the Eagles' lead down to 20 late in the half. A jumper from Smith with 1:02 to go and then a layup and foul shot by Conner at 45 seconds allowed UNF to make it 40-20. However, Florida Gulf Coast made two layups in order to take a 44-20 lead into halftime.

The Ospreys began the second half on a 7-2 run to trim the deficit down to 19. Conner hit a three at 17:08 to make it 46-27. However, the Eagles exploded for a 14-0 run that was sparked by a Stephanie Haas layup at 14:41 to take a 33-point, 60-27 lead. UNF was only able to pull to within to 24 points with Conner making a layup at 3:21 as Florida Gulf Coast held a 73-49 lead.

UNF heads on its final road trip of the regular season next weekend. The trip begins at USC Upstate on Thursday with tip off set for 7 p.m., from the Hodge Center.
