Lakewood Ranch Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic
Florida Invitational Friday Schedule
Â
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida men's tennis competes in two tournaments this weekend to conclude its fall season. Half of the team will head to the three-day 2014 Lakewood Ranch Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic in Bradenton, while four Ospreys play at the three-day Florida Invitational held in Gainesville at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.
Â
Alberto De Meo, Caio Gomes, Lasse Muscheites and Yannick Zuern will represent UNF at the Lakewood Ranch Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic. All four will compete in both singles and doubles. Gomes and Zuern hold the No. 1 seed in the men's doubles bracket.
Â
"We are so fortunate to be invited to this special event," said head coach Mark Finnegan. "There are teams from all over the country coming to this tournament and that will give our guys the opportunity to play competition from outside of our region. We had a great showing last year with Jack [FIndel-Hawkins] winning the consolation. Hopefully, we can have another successful weekend."
Â
Also scheduled to play at the Lakewood Ranch Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic are players from Arizona, Duke, Florida Gulf Coast, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Princeton and Virginia.
Â
Meanwhile, Julian Bradley, Jack Findel-Hawkins, Zach Goldberg and Norbert Nemcsek are slated to play at the Florida Invitational. In addition to UNF, players from Florida, Miami and Texas will participate in the three-day competition.
Â
"This tournament will have a slightly different format, but we are excited to play Texas, Florida and Miami," said Finnegan. "It will be a great opportunity to learn and keep developing our games."
Â
Inside of having a draw, the tournament will match up players from each school at the beginning of each day. All teams will play two rounds of doubles in the morning with at least one round of singles in the afternoon. On Friday, UNF plays doubles against Florida and Texas and singles against Texas.
Â
Both tournaments are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., on Friday.Â
