
@OspreyMSOC Set For First Round of @ASunSoccer Championships

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – For the second-straight season the North Florida men's soccer program will compete for an Atlantic Sun Conference Championship. The Ospreys captured the fourth seed in this year's tournament and will take on USC Upstate on Wednesday evening on the campus of Lipscomb University.
It marks the third appearance in the postseason overall for North Florida and the second under Head Coach Derek Marinatos The Ospreys will be the nightcap of a first-round doubleheader at 8:00 p.m. The game will be broadcasted live on ASunTV and can be followed via Live Stats courtesy of Lipscomb athletic communications. Last Go Around: The Ospreys came up with a 3-0 road victory against USC Upstate back on Oct. 11. The North Florida defense pitched its second-straight shutout and limited the Spartans to just one shot on goal. The shot on goal ended a streak of 155 minutes without yielding a shot. Junior Alex Morrell proved to be the spark plug for the Osprey offense, registering two assists. Drew Spragg, Milan Kovacs and Helge Pietschmann all found the back of the net in the UNF victory. The win snapped a three-game losing streak to the Spartans,
Postseason History: As members of the Peach Belt Conference, the two teams met twice in the postseason. The Spartans recorded wins in both matchups, first with a 4-1 victory in 1998 and then a 3-2 win in 2000. The Spartans are 6-11-2 all-time against North Florida since the series began in 1996. Since both teams joined the Atlantic Sun, the Ospreys have won five of the eight meetings.
All-Conference Selections: Highlighting Tuesday's All-Conference anouncement was Osprey goalkeeper Kyle Nasta who garnered Goalkeeper of the Year honors, the first UNF men's soccer player ever to win the award. Along with Nasta, the Ospreys had a school-record, five players selected to the All-Conference Squad. Senior Diogo Quirino and Helge Pietschmann took home First Team honors while Jay Bolt and Alex Morrell were second team honorees. Morrell was an All-Conference selection for the second-straight season, the first Osprey since Adam O'Neill to be recognized two consecutive seasons.

Chasing School Shutout History:,Goalkeeper Kyle Nasta recorded four shutouts this season, three against conference opponents. He is one shutout shy of the single season school record held by former teammate Brad Sienkiewicz who posted five just last season.,
Scouting the Spartans:,USC Upstate is led by the Conference Player of the Year, Marvin Schmiege, who led the league with nine goals this season. The Spartans landed defender J.J. Bostic and forward Eli Beates on the league's All-Conference First Team. The Spartans recorded conference victories over Jacksonville and Northern Kentucky in 2014 while taking Stetson to overtime. After regular season play the Spartan offense boasts, a league-worst 1.92 goals against average. They will have their hands full as the Ospreys come into Wednesday's game with third-best offense in the Atlantic Sun.
