JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Rebeca Pereira and Luise Intert won the Doubles 2 Championship as the University of North Florida women's tennis continued with a successful showing on Day 2 of the Bedford Cup at the UNF Tennis Complex.

"It was a good day overall," said head coach Audra Cohen. "I'm extremely proud of how all the girls competed today, especially Taylor. Rebeca and Luise did a great job in their match, maintaining continuous momenetum."

Pereira and Intert overpowered UCF's Clare Mendell and Monica Matias, leading from the start en route to an 8-2 win. It is the second time this fall in which the duo has won their flight. Pereira and Intert won Doubles A at the Mercer Bear Gridiron Classic.

In the Doubles 3 round robin draw, Mariella Calderon and Michelle Valdez tallied an 8-4 victory against Florida A&M's Dominique Henry and Elizabeth Clayton.

In singles, four/five Ospreys won all of their matches on the day while one/two split. Michelle Valdez advanced to the Singles 3 finals with two wins on Saturday. Valdez took a 6-2, 6-2 quarterfinal victory against Florida Gulf Coast's Julianna Curtis and then upended UCF's Clare Mendell 7-5, 6-3 in the semifinals.

Mariella Calderon locked up the Singles 5 round robin crown, but will play for an undefeated weekend on Sunday. Calderon defeated Bethune-Cookman's Gabby Chinchilla 6-2, 6-2 to improve to 2-0 for the weekend. She plays Florida A&M's Elizabeth Clayton on Sunday morning.

In consolation play, both Luise Intert and Julia Sbircea had perfect records. Intert advanced to Friday's Singles 3 consolation finals. She posted a 6-3, 6-4 win against Florida A&M's Arrice Robinson and then held on for a 6-4, 7-5 win over USF's Jessica Cortes.

Sbircea won her first match in Singles 4 consolation after she was up 5-2 when UCF's Annika Hepp retired. In the finals match, she overpowered Florida A&M's Elysia Ortiz 6-1, 6-3.

Meanwhile, Esther Zuniga and Taylor Hollander split their matches in their respective brackets. Â In Singles 1 consolation, Zuniga had a 6-4, 6-4 win against FIU's Carlotta Orlando, but fell 6-1, 6-4 to UCF's Caroline Eberhart. Meanwhile, Hollander emerged with a 7-6, 6-2 victory in the quarterfinals of Singles 2 against Florida State's Lana Rush. However, Hollander fell 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 to Florida State's Emily Fanning in the semifinals.
