Baseball Continues Play with Midweek Game with FAMU

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida baseball team continues the season with a nonconference game against in-state foe Florida A&M on Wednesday night at Dusty Rhodes Field at Harmon Stadium. The Ospreys and Rattlers take the field at 6:00 p.m.

North Florida enters the week with a 23-11 overall record, while Florida A&M is currently 2-32 on the season. The UNF baseball team finished the week 3-1, earning a series win over Mercer to claim a share of first place in the Atlantic Sun Conference standings, and, as a result, Corbin Olmstead was named A-Sun Pitcher of the Week and Drew Weeks earned Player of the Week honors as announced by the league office.
The Ospreys boast a 12-0 record against the Rattlers all-time, including a 7-0 mark at Harmon Stadium. North Florida is 5-0 against FAMU under the direction of head coach Smoke Laval.
Earlier this season, the University of North Florida baseball team posted a 5-2 victory over Florida A&M in Tallahassee, Fla. on Wednesday afternoon in the second game of a five-game road trip. Tied 2-2, the Ospreys scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning and relied on solid defense to post the three-run victory.
As a team, the Ospreys collected 13 hits, including four doubles. Corey Bass and Paul Karmeris each had three hits apiece with Bass finishing the day with two doubles. Joe Wielbruda added two hits, including a double, while Spencer Herrmann added a double. Five different Ospreys scored a run in the game, while Bass led the team with three runs batted in.
On the mound, the Ospreys used three pitchers to limit the Rattlers to just a pair of runs. Starting pitcher Nick Allbritton earned his first victory of the season, working 5.0 innings on the day. The senior allowed a pair of runs, scattering five hits in his outing. Allbritton walked one and finished the game with a team-best three strikeouts. Evan Incinelli worked the next 3.0 innings, scattering five hits without allowing a run or a walk. Herrmann, who started the game at first base, came in to pitch the final inning. The Jacksonville native did not allow a run, allowing just one hit for his first collegiate save.
