DeLAND, Fla. -- The North Florida Sand Volleyball team remained undefeated in Atlantic Sun Conference play after sweeping a pair of matches Wednesday at Stetson, 3-2 and 4-1.
The Ospreys, the defending ASun Champions, improved to 10-1 on the season including a 6-0 record in league play. The victories extended UNF's current win streak to seven matches and earned the squad a share of the regular season title for 2013.
Stetson slipped to 9-9 overall and 3-3 in the ASun.
In the opening match, North Florida raced out to a quick 2-0 lead after wins at the No. 3 (Anna Wagner/Emily Strack) and No. 4 (Britt Claessens/Julie Trembley) positions. The Hatters battled back to even the match at 2-2 with wins at No. 5 and No. 2.
UNF's top pair of Anna Budinska/Dagnija Medina, the 2012 ASun Pair of the Year, secured the victory for the Ospreys with a 2-1 decision. The UNF tandem dropped their opening game but rallied with two straight games including a 15-7 score in the deciding game.
